Fight Conditioning with Michael

In the grand tapestry of fitness classes, I often dive in blind, letting class titles drop subtle hints about what's in store. Fight-conditioning? Visions of martial artistry danced in my head. Kicks, punches, and self-defense, I mused. Alas, reality had other plans. It was boxing, in its raw, rhythmic cadence. Michael, our instructor, was a contrast to the jovial trainers I've encountered; serious, dedicated, the kind of guy who's made boxing his lifetime partner. We began with the jump rope, that deceptively playful intro that thrashed my cardio. A beeping ring timer marked our rhythm, maybe a hat tip to those gritty boxing matches?

Gloves donned, it was time for shadow boxing. My fellow gladiators-in-training? Adriana and Moses. Adriana, much like me, was taking her first steps into this dance, and Moses? Well, his punches sang tales of countless such sessions. As Adriana and I stumbled through left jabs and right crosses, Moses was weaving a tapestry of hooks, jabs, and crosses, each combination more intricate than the last.

There was a surreal quality to this dance, a sentiment mirrored in Adriana's amused smiles. From shadow boxing, the journey led to the heavy bags. Moses struck it with a force that sent shivers down the room, while my punches, earnest but novice, had leagues to go. But Moses and I? We shared the relentless perspiration; our efforts pooling beneath our feet.

We rounded off with planks, my core's third outcry of the day. I crumbled and rose in 20-second intervals, each collapse a testament to the morning's core sessions. Glancing at my fitness tracker, this was my Everest of calorie burns. Was it the strive to find footing in uncharted territory or the silent peer pressure of impressing Adriana and Moses? I am, shamelessly, a seeker of good impressions.

The sands of time might not let me dance this boxing ballet again, given my tight schedule. Yet, the allure is undeniable. Exhaustion, sweat, soreness, and two souls added to my ever-growing list of fitness comrades – this class, in all its unexpectedness, delivered.

All the best,

Fred
